The Book Tour Continues – Champions for the Arts in Brooklyn

Literary Salon Champions for the Arts In Conversation w/ Donna Walker-Kuhne | Monday, Oct 26

7:00 PM · The Billie Holiday Theatre

What does it mean to be a champion for the arts?

Donna Walker-Kuhne has spent her career answering that question. Widely regarded as one of the nation’s foremost experts in audience development, she has shaped community engagement strategies for Dance Theatre of Harlem, The Public Theater, the Apollo Theater, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the Whitney Museum, and NJPAC. Over the past decade she has brought that work to more than 100 U.S. cities and five continents.

She joins us to discuss her book, Champions for the Arts: Lessons and Successful Strategies for Engaging Diverse Audiences, in conversation with Aaron L. McKinney, Executive Director of Hi-ARTS. Together they’ll explore community engagement as a vehicle for social change, with practical insight for artists, arts workers, and anyone who believes culture belongs to everyone.

A book signing follows the conversation. All ages welcome.
